Goulburn Valley Health

Goulburn Valley Health (GV Health) needed a new website that reflected the hospital the region and diversity of population and demographics that it covers. It is a large website (Over 170 pages) which meets AA accessibility standards and offers easy navigation. Because of the website’s size we have included some visual ques and navigation areas that have quick links with images.

Being a large regional hospital as well as dealing with emergencies, this website features Accessibility tools (always visible), emergency details (Highlighted), a quick exit button, services offered and giving users fast access for their needs. In addition, the website was designed to be engaging, approachable and human centred, enabling audiences to relate and feel a connection with their hospital as part of their community.

WASH in HCF - World Health Organisation and Unicef

WASH in HCF aims to improve basic water services in healthcare facilities around the world, so the site needs to be accessible and understandable by anyone, anywhere. To achieve this, we redeveloped the site with a clean layout – one with minimal white space and more contextual design elements to better guide the user throughout the website.

It’s very interactive, with click throughs, moving statistics and figures as well as user friendly directories and searches. We used lots of images and effects like parallax scrolling to make the website more engaging. We updated the colour pallet using a dark blue (representing water and trust) complimented with yellow for highlights and design elements for a modern, impactful and approachable feel. Blick was also tasked with developing an interactive Country Tracker. The challenge here was taking the contents of a complex spreadsheet with a large amount of data, and presenting it digitally using interactive prompts to filter the content down to what was relevant to the user. The website is built to AA accessibility standards, making it an inclusive website that is accessible to everyone.

My Lived iD - Monash Health

Managed by Monash Health, My Lived iD is a digital hub and directory that supports the mental health and wellbeing of people with intellectual disability by providing access to information, resources, and healthcare services.

The website design and development included people with lived experience throughout the entire process. Our role included facilitating co-design sessions with people with intellectual disability, lived experience reviews and UX/UI testing, ensuring every element of the website design, structure, navigation, content, and messaging met AA accessibility standards. We installed a Userway accessibility plugin filled with accessibility tools and built a mental health services directory with filters designed in an accessible way. Other features include Pop ups to assist the user, a captioned video, quick exit and resources.

While designed specifically for people with intellectual disability, the persona of the user can be change to parent/carer or health professional.

Summer Foundation

The Summer Foundation aims to resolve the issue of young people living in aged care. The Foundation asked us to improve the overall functionality, visual elements, and accessibility of its website which was designed back in 2015. Optimising the user experience with accessibility for all, including people with disability, was especially important. Our solutions included developing an LMS (Learning Management System), a directory, improving the design, fixing bugs and errors, and building the site to AA Accessibility Standards.

Self Manager Hub

Self Manager Hub promotes self-management and innovation for people with disability. They are Australia’s leading organisation for NDIS self managers. Self Manager Hub is a values-driven organisation promoting the human rights, equality, and inclusion of people with disability. It is run by self managers, for self managers.

This website needed to meet AA accessibility standards and create a safe place for people with lived experience to find free and paid resources, information and ideas to self manage their NDIS Plan. The website is designed with simple navigation (User Journey), and easy to use for everyone looking for information. It has comprehensive accessibility tools as well as Google translate. It’s been tested by people with lived experience throughout the process including using JAWS screen reader software. A very practical and well received website.

Arabic Welfare

Arabic Welfare provides services for newly arrived refugees and well-established migrants from diverse Arabic speaking countries. The brief was to create a website that communicated and engaged with the diversity of the Arabic community including those that have English as a second language (or not at all). Site users needed to be able to identify with the website, to easily find information and be able to view the website in their language of choice. To achieve this, we ensured the new website includes the option of an English language view and an Arabic language view.

The Arabic copy was custom written by the client (not Google Translate!) and, as is customary for Arabic text, runs right to left on the page, rather than left to right as English does (We noted google translate struggles with correct alignment and sentence structure when English and Arabic words are mixed, so it wasn’t an option). Other features include donations, referrals, resources, and event listings.

The Ecolibrium

Ecolibrium is an independent not-for-profit technical organisation representing members, professionals and practitioners working in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) and building services industries. They’ve engaged Blick to develop to a news-style website solution to eventually replace their magazine, Ecolibrium. The tabloid style design is clean and classic yet contemporary looking, it’s dominated by white, black, and blue to highlight stories and information.

The site itself is quite complex, as it needs to handle and present different types of content and have room to grow. With all of this in mind, the Blick team created a hierarchy throughout the website that presented lots of information in multiple ways whilst keeping it easy to navigate and not be too busy. The website was able to enhance their magazine content and bring it to life online.

Islamophobia

Islamophobia Register Australia’s website, is a response to growing anecdotal evidence suggesting a rise in incidents of Islamophobia. We created a website that is approachable and suited the needs of the client and its audience, ensuring that the website was approachable and culturally correct.

The website allows people from across Australia to report any form of anti-Muslim abuse. With an aim to contribute to research and assist government and community organisations to provide practical relief to victims of Islamophobia. It’s a relatively small website that offers the ability to report incidents, provides resources, information, and various ways to contact and contribute in a very clear and friendly way. The two reporting forms have been integrated between WordPress and Zoho CRM, so the team at Islamophobia register can manage the reports.

Flow Outdoors

Flow outdoors is a simple, user-friendly website that is focused around uniting women and nature adventure and connection. Centred around women’s health and well-being, this website needed to be engaging, positive and approachable, it highlights this through imagery and stories whilst highlighting the different programs offered by Flow Outdoors.

There's no impressive technical features to this website, just a welcoming website, thats visually engaging helping two women who are passionate about the outdoors and wellness to support other women through connection. They say on their website:

“Together women can be both stronger and more gentle, brave and kind, and support each other on their life’s Journeys”
